A light in these dark times. In a city fraught with crime and lawlessness, with futures so uncertain, and lines blurred as they are crossed, someone will inevitably rise above the rest. People seek their savior, their messiah, someone whose hand they may grasp to combat the loneliness they feel in the darkness, someone they may look up to believe that yes, there is an ends to these means. She holds her head high in the face of these adversities, not for herself, but for the city that borne and bred her, for the people whose hopes and dreams ride at her back, for the proverbial knife that threatens her at the throat on the way to the guillotine.
[break][break]
Cerys Nicos has easily made headlines as this city’s white knight with her talents and care for her constituents. Young, talented, beautiful, gifted, it almost seems like she has it all. A demure laugh at the camera and that penetrating gaze that seems to speak directly to all the viewers, she found her way into this role because it was one made for her. Charismatic is perhaps the most basic term, but others would deem her charming to a fault, evoking the propriety and gregariousness that would easily blend among the company of the Princess of Wales and the Empress of Japan. She could even come off as quite pretentious if one weren’t the wiser. It isn’t that she is completely unaware of the position society had cast her in; in fact, she basks in it.[break][break]
It takes effort to seem so effortless, and truly, if she had to state what her strength is, it would be that she is rather perceptive. The secret to being great at talking, to pulling people in and making them want to listen to what you have to say, is to be someone who understands how to listen, to understand what, exactly, people want to hear. Perhaps this may seem a little manipulative, and, when it comes to certain agendas, it perhaps really can be. It may come off as calculating, not that she would show this side of her often if at all, but she considers herself adaptable, even if a bit cautious. Cerys Nicos is not someone you would catch with her foot in her mouth, especially not with how much of a perfectionist she is with maintaining her image. [break][break]
Image is everything in these parts, and though her mind often wandering to the repercussions and various paths that anything she says could take, rendering her quite indecisive, you have to give her the benefit of the doubt and breath a sigh of relief that she has the best intentions, and intends to uphold the wishes of those she serves. She serves, first and foremost, and what makes her such a strong candidate in these proceedings is her genuine nature. She selects her words carefully, but she means every single one to the T. You will never catch her in the middle of a lie— nothing to endanger the amount of dedication she has to the citizens of Seattle. [break][break]
Cerys Nicos is a woman of ambition, level-headed and only seeking power to give it back to the people. She may have her faults, sprinkled in with a dash of bossy and a serving of indulgence, but if you know who else is out there, you’ll have to admit that perhaps, she may be the lesser of all evils.

][attr="class","omapponebio"]
[attr="class","omapponebio1"]
Her name is love. It breathes new life into the dark crevices of society, shines with the slightest glint of the Sun. May her reign bring prosperity as this rose blooms, her thorns of steel, climbing over the walls that divide.[break][break]
Cerys Astraea Nicos was meant for more. She chants this as a mantra, holds it close to her heart, sincerely believes there has to be more. Perhaps it was something that stemmed from the recesses of her upbringing, something that screamed in the darkness, that demanded attention. In a family of five, borne to brilliant parents who had a penchant for comparing their children and setting them against one another, she had to be destined for something greater.[break][break]
It wasn’t that she wasn’t adored, no. If anything, Cerys was known as the fairest of the Nicos children. It was easily and early clear that the girl would grow to become a classic beauty, taking strongly after her mother. Slightly sickly, afflicted by bouts of mild idiopathic anemia, Cerys, to be fair, was coddled. She was in no shape to compete with her athletically gifted older sister, Lydian. She received the attention of her parents not through her talents, but through her looks and their worry. Attention came not in the form of praise, but in concern.[break][break]
In effect, the attention was her bread and butter. She thrived in it, and when she eventually grew from her childhood sickness, she couldn’t help but feel the lack of attention. [break][break]
She resolved to captivate the attentions of those around her, to prove that she was worth the praise and accolades that she so craved. Anything Lydian was praised for, she attempted to do twice as much. Voice lessons, lessons in German, fencing, cooking, drawing… as adaptable and quick at learning Cerys became, she would never surpass her sister in any of these fields.[break][break]
However, there was one thing that Cerys had a one-up on her. She had a certain magnetism that followed her wherever she walked. She styled herself in accordance to the vanities of her elegant mother, taking on the speech patterns and cadence of her articulate father, whose confidence seemed to stir the hearts and minds of those he spoke to. If she couldn’t beat her sister in raw talent, she would have her beat in influence. That, she believed, was true power.[break][break]
She surrounded herself with a good group of friends, a squad of upstanding girls who were destined for greatness. The friendships were genuine, even if slightly pre-selected. Perhaps the intention was to use each other for personal gain, but when it came down to it, Cerys had their backs fiercely, even if some of them perhaps wouldn’t bat an eye at betraying and backstabbing anyone else in the group. They held the titles of queens of their generation.[break][break]
When asked about what she wanted to do with herself in the future, all she could offer was a small laugh and that reassuring smile.[break][break]
”You’ll see the difference I’ll make in the world.”[break][break]
For, she took interest in the world of righteousness, her father’s world. Her father, a prosecutor of the wicked, the sword of the divine. Her father, who exacted justice as an upstanding head prosecutor and eventually took to the stand as the district attorney. Though she was not the child that he was most proud of, she had often accompanied him as the poster child of… the child people wanted to protect and nourish, the child you wanted the streets to be safer for. Her work in his ad campaigns, which lead to further work in film and eventually fashion, had exposed her to the world of crime and punishment. She interned for his office, helping in the processing of some of his hardest, landmark cases. His work allowed her the luxury of cavorting among Seattle’s elite, but also forced her to confront the pain and suffering of Seattle’s underbelly. Her father’s work didn’t discriminate— not when he touted himself as Seattle’s last good man.[break][break]
”It is our duty to do what is right, for the citizens of Seattle, and for the good of the world. You’re gonna carry that weight.”[break][break]
She resolves to make a name for herself beyond being just another pretty face. That’s the thing about flowers— they wither just as quickly as they bloom. She would engrave her name upon this city on her own terms. She dedicated herself to the practice of law, throwing herself into her father’s law library with great passion and fervor, seeing it as her legacy to continue her father’s work even after he had been succeeded from his position of district attorney. She would never be good enough for the hallowed halls of law schools, but there was something she could do to make the change her father had centered his platform upon.[break][break]
She took it upon herself to seek her stage in politics, to answer to her blood’s prerogative to rule. The dream seemed rather far-fetched, and with the increasing dangers that seemed to spawn in Seattle, she was easily dismissed as simply a girl attempting to ride her father’s coattails.[break][break]
However, one had to admit, she held a certain esteem that seemed to legitimize her passion.[break][break]
”This would be the face that launched a thousand ships.”[break][break]
She came to take a strong stance against the corruption and crime that tainted the city. Using her influence as a model and her parents’ daughter, she was able to easily flit through social circles, connecting with people of all walks to her cause. With all sincerity, she convinces others of the genuine intention of her agenda, proves that there is no want beyond seeing the city cleaned and safe. Her father’s track record as district attorney served her well, of course, but the amount of support that she was able to find from the richest conglomerate mogul in the city to your average grassroots community leader united the interests of all: a city for everyone. [break][break]
She acts the part of the city’s darling. She makes her rounds around the city, flying the banner of a progressive young leader looking to further the future of the city. She affiliates herself with honest names, calls for the removal of some of the city’s most corrupt politicians, takes weekly coffees with the professors of the university she attended in order to discuss what the city needed. She shows face at philanthropy events, gets regularly photographed performing acts of service.[break][break]
She thrives in the spotlight, enjoying her time on the covers of magazines, sporting a smile that was neither too eager, nor too stiff. If she really was prideful, she makes it a point not to show it. After all, to look effortless was to look natural.[break][break]
For now, she stands to maintain the fantasy. Give the people what they want. Give them exactly what they need. They seek their savior, and she stands to deliver.
Her name is love. It breathes new life into the dark crevices of society, shines with the slightest glint of the Sun. May her reign bring prosperity as this rose blooms, her thorns of steel, climbing over the walls that divide.[break][break]
