October had approached a lot faster than the citizens of Seattle had realized. The warmth of summer was long over, the breeze of fall chilling them to their bones. The month had barely begun and people were already discussing what their plans for Halloween would be. The chocolates had already been put on the shelves in stores, kids screaming with excitement about what they’d dress as for the spooky day.
Shops around the market had been decorated as the days went by, oranges and blacks filling every section; pumpkins were carved and set out at the doors, the little tea lights inside flickering gently. Even downtown had a few decorations here and their. Halloween was fast approaching, and Silas definitely had his hands full. If he were to be honest, he hadn’t put much thought into himself for the sugar-filled holiday. He’d been focused on his classes and their enthusiasm about dancing to Halloween themed songs; it was quite adorable to watch his students flail their limbs to Spooky Scary Skeletons.
Leaning against a mirrored wall, Silas had a gentle smile set on his lips as he observed the kids, who seemed to be definitely not following the steps he’d previously gone over with them. Any other time, he’d be getting on their cases about this, knowing that they needed to stay focused for his examination of them next month. Progress had been made, and they were having fun. Who was he to deny them that?
Glancing up at the clock, he clapped his hands together as he made his way over to the stereo to turn down the song that had been playing. A chorus of ‘awws’ filled the room, pouts covering just about every one of the young faces.
“I know, I know. But we can continue with our Halloween dancing next time, alright? Your parents will turn all of you into pumpkins if you are late getting out, and they’ll probably start with me!” A few giggles could be heard, and they all quickly grabbed their belongings as Silas moved to help a few of them out. Once they were all set to go, he waved goodbye to each of them, his smiling never leaving his lips.
Now it was his turn to clean up his things so that he could head home for the day. He wasn’t entirely sure what he would get up to once he left, but it probably would include… well nothing. There wasn’t really much he could think of that he wanted to do; maybe a bit of shopping, but he could honestly do that another day.
As he moved about the studio, he turned up the Halloween tunes, putting a little dance in his step as he cleaned up the floor, unaware of the gentle knock that tapped against the slightly ajar door.
