• Born in Kyoto, Japan to Yoko and Matashi Tachibana during the rainy spring in April.
• Her birth was intentional, but changed the family dynamic for several years to come. Her mother put her work on hold to be a stay at home mom, while Matashi continued working for a popular restaurant on the island. But by no means was he an absentee father. Both parents were very prevalent in her life, and Kaede was spoiled by their love and the opportunities they gave her.
• The summer after she turned eleven, her parents decided it was time to leave Japan and seek greater opportunities abroad. They'd had friends who spoke of their successes in the United States, and so they decided to follow suit, settling in the Pacific Northwest. Their first few weeks were spent in Oregon, before they moved a bit further North and settled in Seattle, Washington.
• The culture shock affected everyone in the little family very differently, but her mother seemed to take it the hardest. Kaede had already been practicing english as a second language, and the social butterfly adapted to her new school quickly. The rain here reminded her of home. Matashi found that Washingtonians had a love for Asian cuisine, and saw success starting up his own Japanese restaurant. Once she was older, Kaede would help with deliveries; they simply couldn't compete otheriwse, not with Seattle's parking. Yoko, however, struggled to find a private practice that focused on oriental and traditional medicine. Kaede was getting a bit too old to be constantly fussed over now, and Yoko yearned to return to the workforce. But things would not be so easy, at first.
  

I NEED A DOCTOR, CALL ME A DOCTOR

• By the time Kaede had entered high school, roughly four years after their move, her mother had finally found work just outside the city. It wasn't exactly what she'd wanted, but it got her out of the house more often.
• Though her parents would be happy no matter what path she pursued, they would definitely be happiest if she followed in their footsteps. A silent competition had been in play since her birth - which parent would she take after?
• At first, Kaede had wanted to help her father with the family business. She wasn't sure they had the money for schooling, and she always had loved cooking. Meanwhile she began reading up on modern medicine, pouring over the texts tirelessly to help her mother get up to speed, as the clinic she now worked for was giving less and less opportunities to oriental medicine.
• Maybe if she'd studied even harder, if she'd familiarized herself with the laws, she wouldn't have lost her mother. Her mother was locked way in jail after aiding a wounded criminal, and she later died of 'natural causes' behind bars.
• Kaede didn't even give herself time to mourn. She enrolled in a nursing program straight out of high school and threw herself into her studies. She'd marry the knowledge of traditional, oriental medicine her mother had bestowed her the knowledge of with the grueling studies of modern medicine. No one would ever slip through her fingers like that again. If the system couldn't protect them, then she would.

GO BITE A BULLET

• With a year left in her schooling, Kaede learned of the revolution that was making it's way through the districts of Seattle. Despite her busy schedule and a severe lack of sleep, she marched herself over to be interviewed. Perhaps it was the lack of sleep or just her sheer determination, but after passing the interview she even agreed to a deadly game of Russian roulette.
• She entered the interview a tired student, losing her revolutionary drive to change that which had personally wronged her, and surely many others. But she left a medic for the revolution, and a trusted guard should she ever need to be called upon.
• Kaede has since been with the revolution for two years, and even in that short amount of time she has made her loyalty known. She is always on call as a medic, often putting her duties for the revolution before her recent job as a nurse for a private hospital. The hours combined can sometimes be grueling, but she's highly motivated and it certainly keeps the boredom at bay!
