She was born and raised in the city of Seattle, her mother owning and operating a successful little coffee shop and her father a nurse in a local hospital. Her childhood days were spent playing with her older brothers, helping her mother in the cafe, and struggling her way through her father's medical textbooks, which had always been quite interesting to a young Aurie. She was always quite happy, up until 2008, when Aurie was thirteen. When the recession hit, her mother lost her business, and her family a large source of their income. Living in Seattle is expensive, after all. Her father began having to work longer, harder hours, and her mother, despite her best efforts, remained unemployed. Eventually, they were forced to move from their nice, spacious, expensive apartment into something smaller and more compact, a snug two bedroom place where the hot water sometimes worked and the air conditioner never did. After a few years, things improved somewhat for Aurie and her family, when her mother finally managed to land a job as a Starbucks barista and eventual manager, but they never were able to leave that dingy little apartment.[break][break] MIDDLE[break] Fast forward a few years to a nineteen year old Aurie, almost finished with her AA in nursing and hoping to continue onwards for a bachelor's degree in the same field. She's at a party when she hears whispers of a revolution, and maybe it's the booze or maybe it's the danger, but such things light a fire in her. Her mind flashes to her family's dingy apartment, sharing a room with her brothers and the sight of her mother hunched dismally over the kitchen table, combing through the work ads. Her father leaving for ten, twelve hour shifts at the hospital. The student loan debt that already makes her want to jump off the nearest bridge when she thinks too much about it. [break][break]She leaves for her interview the next morning, freshly showered and fighting off a hangover. She's never been the type to put things off. The interview goes smoothly enough, though she does almost back out once the Russian roulette comes in. She puts on her big boy pants instead and plays. By some miracle, instead of ending up with a bullet in her head, she ends up a medic for the revolution. [break][break] END[break] Aurie has been a member of the revolution for just about a year now, constantly on call as a revolution medic on top of her current nursing job in a doctor's office. Add that to her current studies for her bachleor's degree, she's a busy girl with very little time to herself. Sometimes, she absolutely hates it and just wants to lay down and scream, but it does help that she actually believes in the cause they're working towards. Plus, all these people coming in randomly bleeding is great practical experience! She works hard to do a damn good job and generally thinks that she succeeds.
