It wasn't long ago that Aidan was a cocksure little prick, quick in action and quick in his fists. It wasn't long ago that he took the initiation rites, swore the sacred vow in the furthest depths of a dingy restaurant with a shrine of Sìhǎi lóngwáng. In recent days, he's seen some things, done some things, and there's a haggardness to him nowadays, a sense of worn tiredness that hangs around him almost all the time.[break][break]
Still, the guy's a non-conformist, rough around the edges, with a facade of toughness only matched by a narrow temper. It's not enough to have prevented his former optimism draining out over the years, replaced with an uneasy restlessness and the paranoia of shallow whispers that run along the edges of his consciousness. Sometimes, he comes off as irreverent but articulate, unpretentious but cryptic. And there are numerous times where his actions are motivated by an almost mercenary-like outlook; money talks after all. But he is capable of acts of unusual kindness, should he be caught on a good day.

MISCELLANEOUS INFO

Birth Name: Aidan Ren[break]
Alternative Name: 任㤅杰 (Rèn Yìjié)[break]
Date of Birth: 23 / 11 / 1990[break]
Blood Type: AB+[break]
SSN: ███-███-8714[break]
Place of Birth: Tacoma, Washington, USA[break]
Language(s): English, 中文 (Mandarin), 廣東話 (Cantonese)[break]
Next of Kin: N/A[break]
Somatic Report: Aidan's hair is a little messy, but nowhere close to getting long anytime soon; dyed hazel for the sole reason of "Why the fuck not". While his eyes may be best described as dead and dark-circled, they're a warm shade of brown that would be pleasing to look at if it weren't perpetually dull. At 5'9", he's a rather average individual; neither imposing nor small at a glance, but the clothes he wears belies a toned musculature from a couple years of moderate work.[break][break]
Clothes: Times change, and with the Jiang Ren, so changes their attire. Aidan himself, like many of the other younger soldiers, is no fan of the more restrictive suits or traditional changshans, preferring instead a select ensemble of relaxed wear and simple yet maneuverable attire. There are times when the occasion necessitates formal dress and Aidan keeps a cheap suit in the back of his aging Toyota Corolla, but for the most part he needs something warm and light, not something that stands out to make a statement. A zip-up tracksuit and loose-fitting jeans with close-toed boots often works, making him look somewhere between a jogger and a laborer. This does he often wear with the sole exception of his other job, donning the standard scrub top and trousers when required.[break]

][attr="class","omapponebio"]
[attr="class","omapponebio1"]
But for the most part Aidan was anything but one. Sure, his elder brother might've been involved in some shady shit at a local Mahjong parlor, but but to the best of his knowledge he had it pretty good, with a father that was a trombonist, a mother that was a painter, and a nice but small house overlooking the Puget Sound. They'd never broken a law in their life, and that was the way Aidan lived his. For a while he seemed promising; A Taiwanese-American boy that made it into a pre-health program at Seattle University, studying to be a pharmacy technician. But there was a lingering emptiness, a void in the furthest vestiges of his heart.[break][break]
He was dumb and impressionable back then. And when Big Bro showed up in front of his apartment one fine day with the chance for a lifetime of excitement, Aidan agreed. He got far enough to get his pharmacy technician license, but it was then that Aidan's life took a turn––for the worse or the better, who knew.[break][break]
It started simple enough. He had access to a stock of chemicals and medication; his brother had access to a stock of people in need of a new high. And to new highs did Aidan deliver, profiting off of ludicrous amounts of MDMA, Hydrocodone, Codeine, Oxycodone, Nabilone. It was unbelievable how much those suckers would shell out for that stuff. Who knew that dumbasses would pay hundreds to get high off of cough syrup? But every height comes before a fall.[break][break]
A man in a sharp white suit paid Aidan a visit. He was well-dressed, reeked of confidence, and was treated like a King by everyone around him. Zhou Yuan, a Red Pole, made a great impression on the then 23 year old Aidan and his brother. And when the opportunity came to him, Aidan didn't even hesitate.[break][break]
That was part of the reason why he accepted. The other was the money to be offered. Why go through all that extra schooling to make just a couple bucks more than minimum wage when he could make six figures easy from associating with the guys whose name started with a T. Fuck all that noise. And so he joined the Jiang Ren Triad's Seattle Chapter, under Zhou Yuan's wing. For a while, the job wasn't too bad; every once in a blue moon, he'd meet in the Cantonese diner astride the Seattle Waterfront, make use of some of his knowledge as pharmacy technician, while his elder brother became a tout, pushing flyers, drugs, whatever the Jiang Ren told him to push. It wasn't that bad; Zhou Yuan needed a consultant in the realm of drugs, cheap, high-quality ones that could run other competitors to the ground, and Aidan needed the money to get through university.[break][break]
Things changed drastically about two years back, when the new Mountain Master descended. Things were shaping up for the made members of the Jiang Ren; the Seattle Chapter hadn't been producing enough results, and to regain the Mountain Master's favor, they had to redouble their efforts. Up until now, Aidan and his brother had it relatively easy. Apart from coming in once every couple of months and spouting off a few choice words for a fat stack of cash, he was doing literally nothing. And so, Aidan had to delve firsthand into the business, learning what it really meant to be a brother.[break][break]
That meant being part of a racket, led by his elder brother. It meant intimidating business owners who had the misfortune to be on their turf by any means necessary, and making a mess out of a china shop until somebody coughed up enough to pay for "protection". It meant stalking people by van and kidnapping them in the middle of the night, propping them on all sorts of addictive drugs and selling them to the highest bidder. It meant seeking out people that had "betrayed" the trust of the Jiang Ren, and doing far worse things to them than death in the confines of a dimly lit basement. Aidan fancied himself a real piece of shit, but he wasn't by any means the kind of vile individual that'd do all this gladly. But that was what he had to become. He'd already sworn the oath, inscribed his name, gotten the tats. And when his brother had chickened out and tried to leave, Aidan saw firsthand what would happen if he wanted out. So he stayed.[break][break]
It's not everyday that someone finds themself becoming a career criminal. It's not everyday that someone manages to carry out a respectable career while also committing the vilest of sins after-hours. And yet that was the duality of his life. Money flowed in, money flowed out. But Aidan's mind, like his morals, slowly began to fracture. He's tried to keep a low profile in his workplace, among his crew, but it's only a matter of time before the cops come in, only a matter of time before the only choice he's got is catching cuffs or catching bodies.[break][break]

Let's Talk Business
A man in a sharp white suit paid Aidan a visit. He was well-dressed, reeked of confidence, and was treated like a King by everyone around him. Zhou Yuan, a Red Pole, made a great impression on the then 23 year old Aidan and his brother. And when the opportunity came to him, Aidan didn't even hesitate.[break][break]

Push come to shove, it'd probably be the latter.
