- her siblings were the ones who took care of her. she was the youngest out of the three kids, and was often bullied or ignored. life wasn't too bad, but she had to grow a thick skin.
- her family was always loud, and she was the outlier. she preferred silence over talking, reading over sports. valerie was studious, even in her youth.
- at the end of the day family was still family. they always found the time to spend bonding, or at least in each other's presence.
spring- wasn't too popular in high school. she was focused on her studies. she didn't mind too much, but she got lonely.
- oldest sister went off to military school to become and officer. since the academy was close to where they lived, she visited regularly. life was good.
- second oldest brother was close to graduating high school. was a slacker, to the disappointment of their parents. nearly failed out of school. there were lots of fights, but they usually made up. entered the army later that year.
- felt pressure to uphold legacy of her family. valerie was a high performing, independent student. friends came and went. there wasn't much drama, just a lot of distance.
summer- her brother had died in a scuffle with the revolutionists. her family was devastated, valerie especially. it was often quiet in the house, and she hated it.
- family grew distant. her sister was continually being pulled away with police work. her parents were working more. it seemed as if the rebels had ruined her life.
- struggled to maintain grades, but finished school with top marks. entered a police academy early and flourished.
fall- at the age of nineteen, opted to become an investigator instead of a police officer; less physical activity and more thinking. a senior detective mentored her and taught her everything.
- life had settled down -- before her mentor had disappeared. rumours floated around. the rebels had offed them, and she struggled to find her place in the police force.
- become more withdrawn from people. was often lost without her mentor, and was often treated as more of an intern than a junior detective.
- eventually earned the respect of everyone, but is still considered new and inexperienced. usually she sticks to other detectives and acts as more of an assistant.
- stays late up at night to conduct her own research -- mainly on the revolutionists. she's determined to bring them down eventually.
