This mess was definitely and completely his friend's fault. It was 2 am and Agate was still on his laptop. At least, he reasoned, tomorrow was a weekend and Agate had done the research he had planned to ahead of time. So, staying up until 2 am was excusable. [break][break]
Agate's friend had introduced him to some sort of MMORPG, and Agate was hooked. His character was some form of melee attacker, though his fighting style would probably have worked better with a ranged attacker. The game's world was open - each location containing a few bosses of various levels - and anyone could reasonably be anywhere, though the storyline gave a more driven introduction to most locations. With all the effort Agate had put into the game, he was now level 60, had rebirthed once, and had gained some seemingly decent equipment. The plot was slowing down a bit; the next story quests blocked by level requirements. So, Agate was left somewhat stranded; no idea of what to do until the next day when the XP dungeons reset. He had tried to find his friend, but his friend was either too busy running guild events or had already left. Agate sighed. What to do?[break][break]
For a couple minutes, he wandered aimlessly. Then, he came across of if the bosses that spawned in the area. Why not give it a try? He entered the battle. The boss was pretty strong; each attack taking out about 20% of Agate's HP. He figured his level was probably too low. Oh well, may as well give it his best shot. Alternating between attacking, staying out of the boss's attack range, and healing, Agate slowly chipped away at the boss's HP. But at this rate, it would take hours for Agate to defeat it.
