Today – today was a very not good day.[break][break] The Operation had very straight forward policies when it came to its members who were caught by members working under the law regarding both the detainee and the man at its head: no one spoke a word, but no one cast a lifeboat out to those left to drown. One made their own mistakes, then one was the lonely number who paid for them. When X had drilled him on this early on, despite his bravado about the idea of the police never finding him for his so called crimes, the hypothetical situation it had still managed to conjure in his brain was a lot more stellar than what had ultimately done him in. A visit to one building with an out of order restroom; a subsequent visit to another who had very strict rules regarding their bathroom’s employee-only status; the final straw, the final building, and no toilet at all; public urination. Nikki probably would have gotten away with it, too, had he not unzipped five feet from an on-duty cop. What foul luck![break][break] Any working brain would have instructed its owner not to pick a fight, but years of addiction and a lackluster intellect out of the womb left the hitman running up dry. Instead, he struggled against his constraints the entire car ride down to the jail house, cursed up a storm to the cage in the back of squad vehicle, and took up the fight again when they finally moved him from entry way to the maze of bars and padlocks. Most of his energy had left him by the time by the time his soon-to-be jailmates came into view, virtually ragdolling in the bruising grip on his upper arm, but the office behind him certainly hadn’t forgotten about their two man war all the way here. As soon as the door was open, Nikki was all but thrown into the little cell – namely into one of the prisoners.[break][break] “Cool your head for a while,” the cop hissed as he slotted the key into its lock, sealing the junkie in with the brunet he’d nearly bodily toppled.[break][break] “Yeah, yeah – screw you!”[break][break] Wasted breath. His man handler was already gone.[break][break] Nikki hissed under his breath, cursing simultaneously the witness to his crime and the world at large, before coming to the sudden realization that he hadn’t exactly left the stranger’s personal bubble behind him. Anger was his first response – but, hey, it wasn’t this guy’s fault that any of this had happened. Maybe he’d be a bit more forgiving, considering Nikki hadn’t had much choice in his landing place. Stepping aside, he apologized, “Sorry. Pigs, am I right?
