Family is incredibly important to her, and since she lost her mother she hasn't been the same. Kaede still manages contagious energy and an appreciation for life, but there is anger lying below the surface that wasn't there before. She's constantly moving, working hard and striving to learn the newest thing. As such, she can be incredibly critical of her own failures and holds her self to unattainable standards. She doesn't really know the meaning of 'slow down' anymore, and has yet to really take a second to mourn her mothers death. In fact, the busier she can keep herself to avoid it the better. Kaede currently works as a nurse at a private hospital, and as an on-call medic and guard for the revolution.[break][break] FRIENDSFor someone in the revolution, Kaede is surprisingly normal. She may not be the biggest fan of law enforcement, but she isn't super vocal about it. Most know her as a bit of a workaholic who always has a random bit of information to share and an answer to your question. She can be a bit of a know-it-all, but mostly she's just trying to be helpful! Kaede's energy and smile is infectious, and she can be quite the chatterbug after her morning cup of joe. Friends in the medical field, people she's run into at a park, frequent customers at her fathers restaurant, and fellow revolutionaries are all welcome! But honestly, if you can connect even on the smallest level with Kaede, she'll probably be your friend. There are only a handful, however, that she'll be completely open with.[break][break] ENEMIESNot only is she thoroughly invested in and loyal to the Revolutionist agenda, but Kaede harbors a special hatred for this country's justice system. Her mother rotted in jail for a good deed and Kaede will never understand the logic behind such a system. Every move she makes to better herself and further her knowledge is to help dismantle the justice system. Aside from that major point, Kaede can't stand those that take their family for granted and are disrespectful toward them. Then there are the irksome personality traits: know-it-all, blunt and sarcastic. While appreciated by some they're bound to get on someone's nerves![break][break] ExtrasI don't have any specific romance plots in mind, but I will say that it's not something I will promise without having the characters interact ICly. Some plotting is fine and dandy, but I'd also like it to develop organically![break][break] Some other ideas: - A rival in academia.

He grew up in Tacoma, Washington, specifically the Hilltop area renown for widespread gang violence. His youth was spent dealing drugs, playing with guns, and committing all sorts of crimes. Time in and out of juvenile detention eventually escalated to prison after an armed robbery. Once he got off on parole, he went back to school and got his law degree. Shortly after moving to Seattle he became a Judge, and has been working for less than a year now. He's generally a fairly laid back guy, but is extremely invested in his work. He can be incredibly stubborn, relentless and even a bit reckless with concern for his cases. It's really a problem of passion. But when he isn't killing himself over his work, he's quite the charmer who likes to hang out and relax. Occasionally whining over outrageous coffee prices and threatening pen thieves are two of his past times. [break][break] FRIENDSAny and all members of law enforcement are, obviously, welcome! He's kind of new to the Seattle justice system family, so he'd likely just be getting to know your character, or have only known them for a few months. I'd love to plot with some lawyers especially! Rick could use a drinking buddy, preferably someone closer to his age but that isn't set in stone! He's very charismatic and a great speaker, so a lot of people are drawn to him. Especially before hearing about his past, since that often chases people off. I see him being a mentor and even a bit of a paternal figure to the younger crowd. He's very protective and he grew up literally having to protect and watch out for those around him, or they literally may have died. Old habits die hard. He volunteers at the Tacoma Boys & Girls club in his spare time to encourage youth not to get involved in all the crap he did when he was younger, so maybe a fellow volunteer? Just about anything works here, really. Maverick is pretty chill and likes most people.[break][break] ENEMIESHe may be really big on mentoring problem children, but that does not mean there isn't a deep rooted hatred in his heart for gang violence and drugs. His family was ripped apart by both, and it's just...ugly. He won't tolerate it and can be quite aggressive and harsh when dealing with it. He won't give breaks in court unless he believes there is actual potential for reform like there was for him. And that's coming from a guy who will fight to find loopholes in the law to help you if he thinks you deserve saving. If you aren't, he isn't the most forgiving person. It's pretty hard to get off Rick's bad side once you're there, so I'd suggest avoiding it. Not all criminals will necessarily end up here! As for the Revolution, once Maverick learns of it, I feel like he'd think of it as just another gang. Trying to force their radical views on everyone else and killing those that don't comply. That's not cool in his book, and even though he's on the right side of the law now, Maverick still knows his way around a gun and a brawl.[break][break] EXTRASKicking it off with romance to start again, I actually have an idea or two for Maverick here. I thought it'd be pretty cute if he got engaged maybe?? Let me know if this interests you! I understand that Kaede is a nurse and I agree that tutoring is possible; he'd have fun. Is this in the past or present though, b/c he was pretty much out of school by the time she went? o: (But if she's affiliated w/ a university medical program as part of her training, it would be easy for her to run into him for the exact same reason now.) [break][break] Friends is fine, and I'd actually be happy to let you take on the casual dates plot. You know, as soon as he can stop hyperventilating over the fact it might compromise his integrity. In Kaede's case, she's not his age and he is apparently a massive hypocrite on that front. [break][break] . . . but as a guy he feels like people might call him a creeper and he DEFINITELY can't handle it, he has to always be in the moral right or die trying. He also wouldn't want to be drunk in front of her, because that will just end in loud singing, tipsy compliments and attempts to explain complicated subjects using extremely out-of-this-world metaphors, jokes, and—I don't know—probably second hand embarrassment. (SHE IS WELCOME TO TRY THO HE WILL DO EVERYTHING IN HIS POWER TO ESCAPE SUCH A HORRIBLE FATE) [break][break] However, putting fun aside, I'd be interested in seeing her affiliations w/ the Revolution play out ICly. Even before shit hits the fan, I do see them clashing: in his mind, flaws in the system are byproducts of human error just like flaws in the data. I doubt Kaede would agree with his views for obvious reasons and he wouldn't fight her on it; he'd just assume she's less desensitized, which he feels is good b/c being passionate makes her a unique person. [break][break] So when she does stop talking to him, he'll be depressed because he's (secretly) lonely. It's tough for him to make friends and he came to Seattle by himself. People don't always like that he's an agent if/when they find out, so her reaction wouldn't surprise him. On the other hand, if/when he discovered that she was working for a group of murderers, I am sure he would be both disgusted and apt to point out that instigating revolution through murder is still a philosophy that uses average citizens as a means to an end. "Can she really trust the Revolution, and will forcing him to arrest her help create the kind of America she wants to see when she still has so much of her life ahead of her?" [break][break] . . . and yada yada yada other generic stuff a do-gooder would say while either 1.) recording her confession or 2.) attempting to convince her to give herself up (meaning that, yes, he would actually arrest her to prove a point and he can be manipulative enough to take advantage of any willingness she has to give him info) [break][break] . . . we'd have to figure out how they'd learn about their respective double lives though . . . I get the sense that you want Kaede to smoke him out first so perhaps he can decide he trusts her, and thus chooses to explain his status as an agent. If you like more drama, we can throw some in to make his telling her more likely; maybe he even suspects her at one point. / but then the rejection is a bit harder, b/c he will have put faith in her only to have her blow him off with no explanation. but i'm evil and i like it and this always happens to him [break][break] If you can't tell, esper, I like to ramble. I just couldn't put my finger on how they could have gone to school together, since his background contradicted it. AND SHE STILL CAN'T SEE 'IM DRUNK THANKS [break][break] Moving along: Joe walking in on her fixing up a Revolutionary would be pretty interesting to see. (Although we'd need to find one willing to get ran through the grinder.) Tbh she could even ask him to help her out if this person needed to be tended to immediately; he may be law enforcement, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't at least hear her out provided she didn't explicitly incriminate herself. I do get the sense Joe could very easily put two and two together in the moment, and he'd tell her to reconsider or he'll be forced to turn her in. I guess if you like the sound of both, then why not have her smoke him and him smoke her out--double the fun. [break][break] Both of them sound very headstrong about their beliefs, so: if he finds out, he'd feel that he has prove and convict her for it. If Kaede comes head to head with this side of him, I think she be equally as unforgiving. In either case, he'll end up frustrated. Joseph doesn't always feel that great about the US government and his support from the FBI is limited, so he's in a compromising position anyway. Whatever happens, he'll be way in over his head just like Kaede is. [break][break] To be clear, she doesn't have to give him a confession either! In fact, I imagine she can be just as manipulative as him if she feels cornered. It depends on what you want to actually write--I am just being honest about the fact that even if they are close, he won't let her get away with being an accomplice to murder. (It's also fun for me, since it'd be hard on him to attempt to coerce info out of her.) I do get the sense that if she gets out of providing him w/ evidence, he will be very pissed off though; he would think he's doing it for her own good. Jailtime is better than actively associating w/ people who might turn around and kill her if they get a bee up their bonnet. [break][break] However, that's all stuff for the future, so yep. The best thing to do right now is see how they interact. As for what situation to put them in, we can probably write both: let's have it start out w/ tutoring and later in the thread he can have the pleasure of asking her out on the town afterward. They will probably tease each other over good ideas though, since Kaede has all the Seattle-savvy knowledge that he lacks. Perhaps they can both have a day off for once? If that's cool by you, I'd be happy to start the thread off.
