He'd offered to to take her anywhere she wanted just as he had the year before, and the year before that – forget the price tags, forget the distance, just say the word and go. Before, perhaps out of pressure to make the event seem more bombastic than it in reality was, she'd prattled off names even a tourist would know. Take me to the Great Wheel or take me to the Japanese Gardens. Admittedly, the latter wouldn't have been so bad had it not been for an untimely bought of rain that spoiled the affair before they'd even stepped foot in the Gardens proper. The Wheel, however... The Wheel was about as nightmarish for a duo of introverts as could be imagined. Even now, she could recall losing track of her date in the midst of bustling crowds, mind teleporting itself back to a place where it had felt this cramped and lost and isolated before, pressed against the clothed form of an unwanted neighbor – [break][break] Not this time, though. Karva knew what she liked in Seattle. She liked peace and quiet; she liked a high quality cupcake; she liked Arthur. No flashy Ferris Wheels and the torturous crowds they came prepackaged with this anniversary: they were going to the bakery she frequented anyway, because there was no possible way it would disappoint. ( It helped, just slightly, that the white-haired man behind the counter was criminal cute, and the looks she'd seen her own boyfriend flashing his way only proved that he felt the same.)[break][break] And it wasn't the familiar bakery, with its warm air and heavenly smells that disappointed. Nor was it Arthur, positively radiant, smiling that easy smile of his that made her wonder what she'd ever done to deserve knowing him. No, no – it was the woman herself, stood just before the threshold, holding open the door for her date and being caught off guard by a wave of dizziness that was, perhaps, not terribly unfamiliar, but certainly strong enough to knock her off her feet. The door went swinging shut well before she'd meant to let it go. Worst, still, was the fate of the potted plant that attempted to catch her. Soil and greenery spilled out onto concrete, the sound of terracotta breaking filled the air, and the culprit of it all lay amidst it all, vision blinking in and out and the world spinning around her.[break][break] “ I'm sorry,” Karva tried to say, although the words sounded faint in her own ears. Sorry to Arthur. Sorry to the plant. Sorry to the sweet man inside who'd ultimately have to deal with this. This was a very important day. No matter how many times people might say 'its just another year' to him this day meant the absolute world. Each year he felt the need to go above and beyond for the girl who had captured his heart all those years ago. After all to Arthur it didn't matter where they went, so long as they were together the day would always be special. Always be worth remembering. Always leave his heart soaring through his chest. That effect would never wear off, he was certain of that. Just Karva hereelf was enough to turn him into a bubbling mess of puddle on the floor.
Plus he'd taken notes - don't lose the love of your life while on a date.
A certain small cafe on the corner was the destination. It was quaint, charming and welcoming. Not to mention he'd been.... eyeing one of the employees. This one certain fact had eaten away at him for so long, being attracted to another when he had a significant other who was already everything he could dream and more. Now it was... easier. Being attracted to more than one person wasn't... bad. At least he didn't think it was. It could always be much worse. After talking to Val at her resting place he'd found more comfort in everything and in his own decisions. Anyway. Today his focus was completely on his wonderful Girlfriend. Yep.
He heard a crash and turned to see the scene lain out before him. Without pausing for a second his arms were wrapped tightly around the blond, squeezing her close enough that it felt like he might crush her. He knew he wouldn't. She was Karva. Arthur tried rubbing her arms as he kissed her forehead. "It's fine. Just an accident there's nothing to apologize for. Eapecially not to me!" God he wished there was another pot nearby so he could break it to prove a point. "You're perfect. Promise."

[attr="class","rcpostingg3post"] The day had been a bit of a slow one, giving him plenty of time to stay in the back and work on cake orders. Before he knew it, there were stains littering his apron and he’d had to roll up his sleeves to avoid getting any more stains on them as well. Though it was probably a lost cause at that point. He ducked his head out every so often though to talk to the girl manning the front counter -- her name was Peni, she’d just started work a few weeks ago -- and whenever he saw any familiar faces to chat for just a moment before getting back to work. [break][break] There were two customers in particular that were always a joy to have in his cafe. A quiet ethereal woman who had been coming in for a while now and the handsome detective who’d helped him out when his café had got broken into. He’d seen them come in together a few times now. They were… a really cute couple. Ridiculously cute. Whenever he was able to see the two of them it never really failed to make him smile. It was a wonder he didn’t get a cavity just being within their vicinity. [break][break] He’d just finished bringing out a fresh batch of cookies and was just about due for a long break when the loud crash at the front door caught his attention. He was quick to follow the commotion. As he approached he realised it was Detective McDuck and Karva. Arthur had helped Karva up by the time he got to the door, but his panicked expression still wasn’t so easily hidden. Oh god, was she alright? She sounded so upset, why was she upset, was she hurt hopefully she wasn’t sad about the pot it was just a pot. Peering down at the damage, he concluded that, that at least was an easy fix. A potted plant wasn’t a huge loss, he was more concerned about the person who’d tripped over it. “It’s alright, it’s easily replaced.” He hurriedly reassured, trying his best not to hover. “No harm done.”[break][break] Covertly kicking the pieces of terracotta out of the way of the door, he glanced between the small woman and her much taller companion several times before finally choosing to peer down at Karva, brows seemingly knitting together in worry. “Are you alright?”[attr="class","rcpostingg3tag"]

He was always so quick on his feet, moving as if he knew before anything ever happened that it would, and the entirety of the situation hadn't even the chance to dawn on her before he was saying, “ It's fine. Just an accident. There's nothing to apologize for. Especially not to me!” Buried under sweet forehead pecks and the arms of someone beloved, any rational person would have believed him. Just a pot, just a pot. Only the most glacier-hearted would find cause to spit and growl over a pot. Unfortunately for the lot of them, then, Karva wasn't exactly the most rational, at least when it came to moments like these. Of course she would be the one to damage someone else's property, and on a day so important, and in front of a shop they both loved! If they were banned from it, it would certainly be all her fault, and she wouldn't even be able to find it in herself to blame the cute dark-haired man inside for never wanting to see her and her ruinous nature again.[break][break] “ It's... It's not...” she protested weakly, still suffering vertigo. Would she go crashing down to Earth again if he let her go? For the better that he was still holding her up by the time – oh heavens, there Mr. Henley came, curious to see the scene of the crime while its cruel culprit was still there. What was more embarrassing? Arthur's hold on her, or the mess of broken pottery and spilled soil she'd left all over the sidewalk?[break][break] “ It's alright, it's easily replaced. No harm done.”[break][break] Oh. So he wasn't mad. In the end ( although, no different from the usual), she was the only one upset by her grand error and the damage it managed to cause. What would it take for someone to be rightfully angry with her? Better to slap her outright than seethe behind her back; at least then she didn't have to worry about whether or not it was happening to begin with. “ Are you alright?” he went on to ask, as though she were not the one who ran head first into his poor, poor plant, but the other way around. In truth, there was a scarlet line of where terracotta had had its revenge on her arm, welting wet even as they spoke, and while vision had returned, the world was still spinning about her. In spite of these things, or perhaps because of them, however, she answered untruthfully:[break][break] “ Yes. I'm sorry.”[break][break] A glance over at the de-potted flowers. Already, she could recognize the whole lot of them – gardenias, lillies, the like – and could almost name a price for every one at her own flower shop. A bite to the medic's wallet, but compensation was compensation. “ I can replace them.” Then, as though she hadn't said it a dozen times already, her eyes fixated once on Arthur, once on Ronan, and to the both of them, she said, “ I'm sorry.” [attr="class","beyonddarkpostleft3"]
