When Flynn heard unit 32 was finally hosting a long overdue welcome party, this wasn't exactly what he had in mind. Not that he could expect a grand gathering hosted by Ilya, the office environment remained too unchanged. It was as slow paced and as scattered as any other typical day. The only new additions were some new faces along with 'punch' prepared in one corner of the room. At that discovering moment, Flynn decided it was best to mark that area with imaginary red caution tapes. He couldn't trust himself to take any drink existing in the same space as Alexis. The punch could have been 'virgin punch' and it would be a repetition of 'virgin vodka' all over again.
Being the social butterfly, Flynn made his rounds of greeting every warm body he laid eyes on. Eventually, it came down to the last person who somehow managed to escape the ginger's attention till now. His sixth sense pinged him that the guy was avoiding contact on purpose, but he shrugged off the thought. Flynn gave the person the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps they simply had been extremely shy. Otherwise, he couldn't fathom why someone would try to refrain from the sheer awesomeness that is Flynn Roux.
With all the confidence of the world on his shoulder, the red head marched towards the one who peaked his curiosity. "Hey! I don't think I've seen you around before?" Flynn sounded unsure. Now that he was up closer, he was becoming more convinced they had met elsewhere. The blue haired man had a striking resemblance to the guy he spilled coffee on that fateful morning. "I'm Flynn. And you're...?" He held out a firm hand, hoping his conversation would reciprocate it with just as much intensity.

[attr="class","rcpostingg3post"] Unit 32 was nice. It was a nice place for him to do his job without some higher up breathing down his neck to give the politician’s screw-up kid a good evaluation. From what he’d seen of Ilya, he wouldn’t have to deal with that kind of shit here. He’d be able to do the job he’d worked hard to get, instead of having to obey to someone else’s whims under the threat that if he didn’t he’d lose his job. So yes, Sergeant Mikhailov, someone who seemed to hate paperwork more than he did, was a decent change of pace. [break][break] The punch had definitely been spiked. With what exactly, he couldn’t say, but it was pretty good nevertheless. He limited himself to only one cup of the stuff though. While it was a party, it was a work party. He might like to drink, but not typically around people he would have to face the next day. The faces that filled the room were mostly familiar, while others he couldn’t put a name to yet. A strand of red hair was all he had to see to know how was coming to talk to him, and he wasn’t happy to see the familiar face. That coffee stain had never come out of his shirt, no matter how many times he’d tried. There was also the fact that the coffee had been hot when it was spilled on him. So yeah, Beau might not have known his name until just now, but he already didn’t like him. [break][break] And of course, he’d forgotten about the whole interaction. Beau couldn’t help the frown that dragged the edges of his lips downward or the way his eyes narrowed at the redhead’s words. He peered at the hand offered to him, and pointedly ignored it in savoured of keeping his hands on his cup of punch, though he reluctantly introduced himself. “Beau. Reading between the lines was never one of Flynn's specialties. He found it especially hard to scan the right atmosphere during a social event. So when the blue haired man had ignored his friendly cues, he recoiled in a puzzled manner. Flynn reluctantly withdrew his the rejected hand to his side where it fumbled shyly. This was awkward.
Thankfully for the redhead, there was a perfect solution for situations of the sort. Emerging from the pockets of a blazer that loosely hung over his shoulders, he broke the seal of a brand new pack of cigarettes. With clumsy fingers, he carefully lit the butt until the tip had been burned a deep orange. He took a breath of smoke and chemicals and like magic, his composure had returned. Despite knowing the dangers of such coping mechanism, Flynn sought for the unfeigned comfort in filling his lungs with smog and he'd rather tackle one problem at a time.
There might have been a no smoking sign in proximity, but the ginger paid no heed. Instead, he turned towards a nearby window and widen the gaps that led on to fresh air from outside. It was no secret Flynn hadn't remembered where he had met the other, so he did the next best thing he could. He played along.
"Are you sure?" He squinted his eyes immensely before continuing, "yup, nope. Nothing's coming to my head. Huh, weird. I would have remembered a face like yours." Wait, that didn't sound quite right. "I mean you're pretty memorable, cute and all."
"So! You liking 32 so far?"

[attr="class","rcpostingg3post"] He’d be lying if he said he didn’t feel a little satisfaction at the sight of Flynn’s faltering. In fact, he took a lot more pleasure in the sight than he’d ever be willing to admit, but in his opinion, it was well-deserved. Maybe he would leave him alone now, and he’d be able to despise him in peace. Watching the man across from him with mismatched eyes, Beau tracked the redhead’s movements as he reached for a cigarette. Ah, so he was a smoker. Beau wasn’t too surprised, there were numerous people in law enforcement who picked up the habit and there were quite a few within Unit 32. He didn’t tend to partake himself, only occasionally and usually after a nice night with a beautiful man. [break][break] He was peering at the sign that clearly stated that smoking was banned within the premise, when Flynn attempted to speak again and his words alone were enough to give him pause. “You’re pretty memorable, cute and all.” He personally preferred ‘beautiful’ or ‘handsome’, but Beau had always loved compliments. Even when he was a child, he would puff out his chest and hold his head a little higher when he received praise. And he hadn’t change a lot since then, even now, his chin lifted from where he’d been staring down his nose at Flynn. He even preened a little at the words, not unlike a peacock proud of its feathers. The words almost made up for the mild burn and permanent stain the coffee had left on his shirt. Almost. [break][break] It may just be the alcohol in the punch getting to him, but the shrink felt a small portion of the venom he held towards Flynn dissipate. Just a little. Beau gave the redhead a contemplative look, considering this recent development. While it’d been a little clumsy, Flynn had ultimately recovered from Beau’s initially cold greeting and he couldn’t help but admire that. Besides, it took a lot of effort being so snappy all the time and he was trying to relax. While a work party was barely the kind of party he usually liked to attend, he hadn’t [break][break] “Well, at least you left lasting impression, I suppose.” He admitted. It could barely be regarded as a compliment, considering the actual circumstances that could barely constitute as a first ‘meeting’ and his flippant words, but it was quite the statement coming from a Beau who was more or less sober. He stopped a moment to think about his next words, before shrugging. “Unit 32 is… it’s nice. Better than the place I used to work, that’s for certain.” [attr="class","rcpostingg3tag"]
