he tries not to make a habit of drinking, though it is admittedly an uphill endeavour. for a night, though, and for the sake of approaching a colleague, he'll indulge. he is hardly going to lose any sleep over a single drink. [break][break]
out of uniform and out of office, ivor is a nondescript figure. it is a move played with purpose; he knows little of the true nature of the issue, and if he is to pry any deeper, it is best done without too much of the stifling circumstance of the station. besides, if the situation goes south, it isn't too difficult to make a swift exit. it's a little harder to walk out of the police station when you're still on the clock.[break][break]

It took a few moments of Rosalyn staring into the amber liquid in the glass she held in her hands before she answered the tall gruff man speaking to her. “ do you have a problem with my methods Detective?” Her grip went white knuckled on the pale glass as she downed it in one quick gulp. Her steel blue eyes went a little hollow as she drank ,though....they weren’t much different if anyone had paid attention to them moments ago. “It’s no different than what they went through in the academy, or hell basic if they were ever in the military.” She flipped the glass in her hands and tapped the top of it signaling the bartender to poor another wordlessly.
As she waited she took a deep breath she turned to face Ivor. “But hey, lets just rip the bandage off prematurely shall we?” Her glare pierced towards the man like knives. “ is it your husband that put you up to this? Like he knows my goddamn reasons or even why I’m doing this!” There was bite in her words that she probably shouldn’t have but the tiny woman was already about five bourbons in and wasn’t entirely thinking clearly. As she swung her hands off the table to point accusingly at the detective she knocked two items off the counter, a set of dog tags and a picture clattered to the floor taped together as she started going on a quite but furious tirade about how everyone just needed to get their shit together and just deal with it,because they couldn’t tell her how to do her damn job.

in the short silence that follows his greeting, ivor comes to terms with the fact that he has, in retrospect, made an error in approaching her at the bar. what follows the silence, however, is nothing short of an explosion. he waits patiently, takes a measured sip of his drink, and waits some more. there is little use in interrupting a rant such as this one. he murmurs an apology to the bartender, but otherwise remains silent until a pause presents himself. [break][break]
"i think," he says mildly, "that if the chief had given me any information, i wouldn't be here asking you about it." [break][break]
his gaze slides towards the fallen items on the floor. "i'm offering to listen, if you want to talk about it. once you're done telling me to-" he continues, voice desert-dry, "'get my shit together', of course."

She looked at his complete disregard for her tirade and just glowered turning back to the counter when her next drink was poured. Rose swirled the the ice cubes in it and went back to staining at them as they moved.. when Ivor looked down at at the dropped items he would notice two things.

they looked at least a few years old and well worn, as if someone sat and rubbed them like a worry rock whenever they needed to think. The next thing he noticed was a photograph with two individuals in marine uniforms. A frizzy haired woman wearing the stripes of a gunnery sergeant she held a much shorter individual in a headlock giving the smaller blonde a playful boogie. It would take the detective a moment to realize that the other person was more than likely Agent Hawthorne, her hair was sheered short in the military male high and tight and wearing the gold bars of a first lieutenant. the other surprising factor was just how bright eyed and innocent she looked. A far cry from the haunted weapons specialist they Ivor would be used to working with other than looking a bit boyish she actually looked happy,she didn’t have the worry lines on her face of the bags under her eyes.
”what....you going to try and fix me like my shrink.” She said when she finally noticed where his eyes had been trained. She picked up the photograph and ran her finger over the dog tags.”go ahead and ask.” She said draining the glass once again.” You want to know why I’m such a crotchety old bitch about training, well you’ll get your answers...just ask away.”

his voice softens, or at least, as much as it can; the sharpness of his eyes undermines it regardless. "what's going on?"

She clenched her hands around the dog-tags before she just sighed. " stop me if I sound too much like a stereotype but you know the old saying how everyone has that one case that sticks."she leaned over the counter her eyes closing softly as her lips moved in what seemed like a prayer but she said nothing. "Well mine was the reason I became an FBI agent." her pale blue orbs looked over at him " there was this girl.... that's how all of these stories go isn'tit...But I met her when I was in OCS and even though I wasn't allowed to be out at the time she still saw me for me, you know." she began absentmindedlyrubbing the tags again her brow furrowed and her lip stuck out a bit like she was trying to bite back on tears that were already long since dry." "It was great while it lasted even with The Corps. breathing down my neck and all, hell im kind of lucky they didn't just send me off to be a bullet sponge in...name an middle eastern country, but they just stuck us both stateside and I was grateful." She scoffed a laugh at her own situation." ah name a marine who thinks they're lucky being a logistics quartermaster at Camp Pendleton...ohhh Yvonne fucking hated it, she thought it was so dull, She had all these grandiose visions about how she wanted to change the world and be the next sergeant York or something stupid like that,' she looked at the photo and smiled, The look in her eyes was of someone who was broken."i actually proposed to her after one of those speeches.... only time i ever saw her cry, she was so beautiful.. IVOR RAINE-BYRNE  Rose stared at the photograph like she was a million Miles away as tears slipped down her cheeks, her chest felt like the static of a television set as she loooked deeply into Yvonne's phtographed eyes. she dug softly into the pockets of her BDU jacket, She pulled out a set of Keys and a makarov handgun and slid them towards Ivor wordlessly before she reached into her back pocket and pulled out a small pocketbook. She seemed sluggish as she tried to carefully slip them into it and replace it where she got it from. The short SWAT agent slid down from the Stool she was sitting on, knocking it over in the process. She reached up and grabbed the hairbow holding her hair up in a bun, pulling it out roughly as she looked at the tall blonde man" im...seven...six? im gonna say six drinks in and I definitely shouldn't be trusted with my keys or sidearm." She started counting on her fingers as she looked up "Im...98 pounds and bourban is gonna go straight through" she swayed on her feet slightly. She shifted" i...I am in fact suprised I'm still concious, though if i remember any of this conversation tomarrow it will be quite the sweet surprise, becuase im 99.9 percent certain the only thing keeping me semi lucid is the fact that i am talking to you and the massive amounts of depression and self loathing in the background of my mind." tears still swept through her cheeks, her face struggling with the effort of trying to keep her usual look of sweet indifference even though she was crying.
