scars adorn her back in a manner both psychological and physical, a heavy burden of pain clouds her soul in a thick mist. she has a fragility to her, deep under layers of built up walls meant to keep all harm out, and though everything feels heavy, like her legs can't hold her up, she still tries to keep a positive outlook on it all. she hasn't lost yet, and she doesn't plan on it ever happening. through each battle, she intends to come out on top, come out victorious and stand strong, no matter how heavy it all feels. recovery is made using a bunch of steps and finding out the order that works best, and throughout it all, she has made progress. no matter how much she doubts it, she has, and she intends to reach the final steps one day.

][attr="class","omapponebio"]
[attr="class","omapponebio1"]
life is filled with tests. tests of courage, tests of patience, tests of will and strength. dara's been through her fair share. at a point in her early life, her family deemed her a curse to them - not for any real means, mind you. she had been a delight, an average little child, bubbly and bright and excited for the future. handling a baby so young in their relationship must have been difficult, mother and father growing more and more agitated with each other as time went on. [break][break]
they had been so in love, it made hardly any sense that a child would throw them off their pedestal so badly. as dara's father grew violent and distant, her mother just grew distant. who would care for a child who single-handedly ruined a relationship, right? it would be too difficult for the woman to admit her own faults, and soon the man dara called father left, leaving damage in his wake. alcohol was a rampant smell in the household after that.[break][break]
life with her mother was another test. she managed to pass it, but not without lasting scars. physical and emotional scars were what she knew best at the point of when she left there. she made it to college as soon as she could, finding odd jobs to help support herself and doing her best to study and do well. there, she met some friends, some friends she thought would last forever! they brought her new tests - tests of flexibility, of growth, of compromise. she grew and matured, as best as she could, but damage from her parents had never faded, and lead her to meet friends who would mimic those she escaped.[break][break]
trauma has a funny thing about it. it guides you to repeat what had occurred, to bring you back to where you were harmed in the face of someone new. she was a year into college, a year into her life away from trouble, when she met someone new. past relationships dara had had had gone well, if not a bit lukewarm. they had been friends, they had been lovers, then they had been friends, or even acquaintances afterwards. sure, there were spats, but nothing lingering had retained from these loves. but her newest love, she was different. [break][break]
dara had been so consumed in love - an obedient love, a loyal love, a love that helped further taint her view of love within the world. this girl she had loved was her everything - and that was no exaggeration. it was toxic, tainting, dara's grades slipped, her friendships slipped, her health slipped, all in favor of doing what her new lover had wanted. she was punished for misbehaving, punished by days of nothing and emptiness, by words of spite and anger, and punished by love and affection to keep her in hold. no physical abuse had occurred, no slaps, or punches, or kicks.[break][break]
but those aren't the only things that harm.[break][break]
dara's lover had been winning, she had gotten her to fail classes, and almost be kicked out of school. it wasn't until an old friend had knocked her to her senses that dara realized what was happening. before it was too late, before her everything was ruined for good, she escaped. she escaped with help, with friends, and began to heal. it was slow, it was daunting, it never quite finished. dara had always wanted to be a fashion designer. a seamstress. someone who had skill in making clothes that others would love and adore - but test after test lead her to a path she wanted more.[break][break]
she finished school, and began her career. it was slow, it was boring at times, paperwork outweighed most pros, but one pro was above it all. she could help others. others who are hurt, who have gone through things similar to her. she could... help. that was all she wanted in life at this point. mysteries were fun, but solving them was more so. closing a case so someone out there could rest soundly was her everyday goal. she's not perfect at it by all means, but it helps push her along. therapy helps as well, medication and support and everything she could have dreamed of.[break][break]
life is full of tests. sometimes you fail, but so long as you keep living, you'll always pass in the end.
