College friends, as Frieda had learned, were a challenge to make, even for some of the more extroverted students who attended, particularly when one had moved halfway across the country from the cold mountains of Colorado to get schooling in a place where they knew absolutely no one else enrolled. Finding time to hang out with said college friends, assuming she could make them in the first place, was even more difficult – and never mind finding something to do that wasn't an absolute waste of time for the lot of them! Soledad was a welcome change of pace from her earlier struggles of socialization outside of the coffee shop she worked at (with a bonus in that she had help for homework in at least two of her more challenging courses, now), and when she'd learned that they'd both get a kick out of visiting her new favorite store in town – a candy store – it had seemed like the perfect way to kill a rare day off. Great store with a new friend. What could go wrong?[break][break]

Lorelei, apparently. Sisters' Day Out was one thing, a treasured occasion, but there was definitely a time and place for it, and that wasn't when the barista was trying to make a good impression on her first Friends' Day Out with her much smarter, much cuter college buddy. Why was she even here? Maybe she also wanted candy and wouldn't admit to it; it'd ruin the cool, intimidating image, for sure; or... well... if anyone could still look intimidating while eating a lollipop, it was probably Lorelei. Hm.[break][break]

“You won't believe this place when you see it,” she was saying, hyping up the rainbow-colored place just a matter of blocks away to Soledad as they moved together through the streets. “Most candy places are pretty tiny, right? You could probably fill my whole apartment with how much stuff they've got here!” A wide, sweeping arm motion accompanied the description, an attempt to give a sense of scale to the volume of sweets that lay in wait ahead of them. Even as she spoke, though, the brunette couldn't help but scan the periphery of her vision for something that could distract their 'chaperon' for a bit, at least long enough to slip away. Seriously, sis: time and place! There was no perfect distraction, of course, or even one that would have to make due in a pinch – instead, something else, or someone else entirely caught her attention from across the street, moving in the opposite direction. Oh![break][break]

Suddenly, Frieda came to a halt, waving her arms high in the air to catch the dark-haired girl's attention from across the way. “That's my friend over there!” she explained to the no doubt confused duo behind her before hollering, “Aister! Look here!”

A day off work for one of those specially named "Monday" holidays was always a perfect opportunity to try checking out some of the shops in Seattle's downtown area, specifically the Pike Place Market. Sure, she always walked these streets every other day to get to the location of both her part time and undercover job, but there was a distinct difference between those walks and a real chance to browse the various other shops besides the music shop. Even on weekends, Aister didn't often have time to visit this area and try out all the food and drink cafes. [break][break]

So it was as she was following a block south, a plastic cup of hand-squeezed orange juice in hand, that she suddenly heard her name being called from across the street by a familiar voice. Blinking twice in pleasant, Aister lowered her drink and waved back enthusiastically with a grin. It seems like Frieda also had a similar plan in mind for enjoying this day in the marketplace. She glanced around to compare the ends of the block to see where the nearest crosswalk was, then walked briskly over and crossed to Frieda's side with, probably, a few negative seconds left on the pedestrian light countdown.[break][break]

"Well hey there, if it isn't Frieda~!!" Aister cheerfully called out in an almost melodic tone before she'd reached the sidewalk where Frieda and her companion were. "Am I ever happy to see youuu! ♡ You got a day off too?" She tilted her head as she glanced about at the others with Frieda, only to realize they weren't really strangers at all. It wasn't more than a few weeks ago that Aister had crossed paths with the bubbly girl named Soledad, and ended up helping her with some fun shenanigans. "Oh, hey, nice to see ya' around too! Soledad was it? And..." Wait. Why was the brutally merciless, fellow revolutionist here? Aister almost couldn't tell if she was actually with Frieda's party or just passing by on coincidence. Of course if it were the latter, normal protocol was to pretend they didn't know each other outside of their work, but... Aister could almost sense that she had caught the enforcer's attention, and not in a very warm way??

Two of her favorite things happen to be candy and friends. To have both on the same day? Priceless.[break][break]

She beams, chubby cheeks bubbling with happiness as she happily follows closely to Frieda. A new friend, gained through the chance of peer tutoring. Part of her wants to thank their teacher for introducing them but part of her knows that this was all their doing. Their teacher didn't force them together. Sol wanted to help a fellow classmate and Frieda happened to be such a kindred spirit that the rest was history.[break][break]

Not even her sister's slightly frightening presence could ruin such a day.[break][break]

The small brunette glances to her side, eyes seeking the older girl. There is an air about her that Sol can't place... Definitely intimidating, no doubt about it, but something else... Something that makes her want to gravitate toward her. A motherly air? No. Maybe the longing for a sibling? She is an only child, after all. She's quick to look away before figuring it out, sheepishly forcing her eyes to stay forward on the street. The idea of being on the woman's bad side just by looking at her too long is enough to cause a small flutter of anxiety to start in her stomach.[break][break]

Frieda gathers her attention as she sweeps her arms in a grand gesture. An excited laugh escapes from her lips and she all but bounces as she walks. The idea of such a large candy store is exhilarating and she frankly cannot wait to get there! "I'm so excited!" the words chirp out, glee basically radiating from her pores. "They need to take all of my money! I want all the candy oh god,"
The thought of clearing their shelves, however, is a little nerve wracking. She'll have to steal a few more things after to make up for the massive hit to her wallet but this occasion, this Friends' Day with Frieda is certainly worth it.[break][break]

Before she has time to question more about the store, Frieda is beckoning someone over. More friends? She perks up and whips her head around, strands of puffy brown fluttering against her face with the motion. The approaching girl, however, is someone Sol already knows. Her smile widens (although her face is already at its smiling capacity) and she becomes all teeth and chubby cheeks once more. "Yes, that's me! It's nice to see you again," she greets Aister, one hand rising to frantically wave as the girl joins their little trio. "I didn't know you guys were friends! That's so exciting," Her words come out in one rapid breath, gushing at the thought that both of her new friends were also friends. Oooh, they could make a little trio! If she's being truthful, she's never had friends that fully got along so this new territory is even more exciting.[break][break]

The memory of how she met Aister comes back into her mind and she flushes a slight pink, embarrassment prickling at her skin. She had been in over her head, stealing from someone she probably shouldn't have, and Aister just happened to be passing by at the right opportunity. With a little help from the dark haired girl, they made a break for it and somehow bonded in the process. Although... She meekly hopes that Aister won't spill the beans to Frieda just yet. It's a bit embarrassing for her side job to become the knowledge of her friends... Especially when she hasn't exactly told them that she's broke just yet. Oh well, the excitement from this newest addition to their day in a candy store is enough to make her forget about the money woes for at least a few hours. Besides, it's not every day she gets to have both of her friends in the same place as candy. For Sol it's definitely a win-win!
