A terrible illness sweeps across Seattle with no sign of stopping, attacking the strong and the weak, the rich and the poor alike. As days turn to weeks – weeks into months – hospitals pile up with patients too sick to take care of themselves, and the strain claims its first fatalities. During this time, the revolution discovers the potential for a cure hiding in the archives and storage of the Prima Medical Institute, a campus right in the heart of the city. Breaking into the campus earns the Operation files detailing the cure's origins and make-up, and while some members are caught in the act, their sacrifice seems to save civilians all over Seattle. Through anonymous donations of the engineered cure to local hospitals and clinics, as well as distributing it themselves on the streets where they will not be caught, members of the revolution watch as those with little hope of recovery get slowly back on their feet. At the end of all of this, an announcement to local media outlets announces their involvement in the break-in, distribution of the cure, and eradication of the epidemic: for the very first time, knowledge of the anarchist group is spread to a disbelieving city. All the while, though, a sense of doubt in the Operation's inner workings begins to spread to some of its disenchanted members, and a rift between the loyal and the unsure shows its first signs of forming. They may have “saved the city”, sure – but not everything is nearly so heroic about how the Doctor intends to “save” it in the future. |
